Here’s a copy of the $2.25 per page ‘transcript’ of the September 24, 2013 Hearing wherein the Petitioner was able to successfully argue for the recusal of the Appeals Commission.
The first page of the document states, “Due to the timeliness of this transcript it is not completely edited.”
Think about that: Individual Tribe members, not the $1 million plus budgeted Appeals Commission, must pay $2.00 per page to have stenographed proceedings transcribed, and then must pay an additional 25¢ per page for copies of a half-assed, error-riddled stab at what was actually said.
Perhaps the numerous errors in the transcript are the result of the stenographer/transcriber being hotboxed by Oneida Tribal Judicial System personnel.
At a recent Business Committee meeting Secretary Patty Hoeft said that, regarding GTC Meeting minutes, an external transcribing service might be faster and less expensive, therefore it stands to reason the same could be the case regarding OTJS transcripts.
The important thing for now is that Oneida Tribe members have a free documented example of how individuals can – and should – require recusal if they feel so inclined.
