Here’s the July 18, 2013 Confidential Memorandum from Bobbi Webster, Public Relations Director, and Phil Wisneski, PR Specialist, re: ‘Media Relations’ in light of Brian Doxtator’s boneheaded petition to remove Chairperson Ed Delgado:
UPDATE: This memo only helps demonstrate how out of touch the Oneida Public Relations Department really is, and/or how pathetic of a job they do at running interference for OSGC & their sycophants.
The baseless attacks on Chairperson Delgado by a feckless faction are not a separate issue from the General Tribal Council’s acts of self-defense against Oneida Seven Generations Corporation & OSGC’s unquestioning supporters on the Oneida Business Committee.
In fact, the recent attempts to smear Chairperson Delgado (and his staff) with bogus sex scandals as well as the trumped-up claims of ethics violations in Brian Doxtator’s ridiculous petition to remove the Chairperson are quite nakedly a direct result of Chairperson Delgado’s
- column in the February 21, 2013 Kalihwisaks in which he challenged the idea (and the Land Commission’s February 13, 2013 decision) that Tower Foods/Water Circle Place was an appropriate location for OSGC’s ‘plastics-to-oil’ incinerator (OSGC later admitted on March 27, 2013 that they had not done their due diligence), acknowledged that – despite OSGC’s claims – not all of OSGC’s funding came from grants, and observed that OSGC’s ‘waste-to-energy’ plans were hurting the Tribe’s credibility;
- stance that he – as Tribal Chairperson – and any and all GTC Members have every right to speak to the media as they wish regarding events they consider newsworthy, despite the fact that he was later falsely accused by Council member Brandon Stevens of violating the Code of Ethics for exercising his right to address Tribal & local media (as if felonious burglar & fetus-beater Brandon Stevens has standing to accuse anyone of being unethical);
- statement to the media following the May 5, 2013 GTC Meeting that he felt GTC made the right decision by directing OBC to stop OSGC from building incinerators on the Oneida Reservation.
Given the people involved in manufacturing scurrilous rumors, circulating the specious removal petition at GTC Meetings, and abusing their employment positions to badger people to sign the removal petition against the Chairperson (some linked to the office of Council member Melinda Danforth via her Executive Assistant Lisa Summers), there also seems to be some stale butthurt about Delgado’s previous actions as a Council member and his role as Audit Committee Chair regarding the Oneida Housing Authority Board of Commissioners’ misused money scandals of 2006-2008 (which received award-winning local media coverage, hence the aversion to local media some people have) as well as some fresh butthurt over Dale Wheelock’s firing from the Oneida Housing Authority in 2012 which resulted in Chairperson Delgado having to request a restraining order against Wheelock (Brown County Case #2012CV1865).
HERE’S SOME PR 4 U: IT’S ALL THE SAME STORY.
