Who Is OSGC’s Attorney?

As Oneida Eye has previously noted (here and here), Attorney Carl Artman is listed as Oneida Seven Generations Corporation’s Attorney in the section titled ‘Independent Tribal Vendors for OSGC’ in OSGC’s Fiscal Year-End 2011 and 2012 Reports.

This despite the fact that, at the May 5, 2013 GTC Meeting, Attorney Artman claimed that he had not worked for OSGC for two years.

If Atty. Artman is not OSGC’s day-to-day attorney, and the law firm of Godfrey & Kahn (of whom Artman is an attorney and shareholder) is only serving as OSGC’s representation in their failed lawsuit against the City of Green Bay and their current appeal thereof (for which the Oneida Business Committee allotted $750,000 from the Tribe’s General Fund), then the question remains:

Who is the attorney for OSGC’s day-to-day operations?

We know that Attorney William Cornelius (OSGC President & Chairman of the OSGC Board, as well as Counsel to the Oneida Gaming Commission) is limited by Wisconsin law in the services he can provide a corporation of which he serves as an executive & board member due to conflicts of interest.

We have also seen that there are undeniable conflicts of interest were the Oneida Law Office under the direction of Chief Counsel Jo Anne House to be providing OSGC counsel as OLO is supposed to serve first and foremost the interests of the Tribe’s highest governing authority, General Tribal Council, and it’s been made clear that what’s in the best interest of GTC isn’t necessarily what’s in the best interest of OSGC.

So, as General Tribal Council contemplates OSGC’s business model of marketing toxic incinerators at home and across the U.S., OSGC’s business method of misrepresenting facts, OSGC’s business mysteries of why they remain unaccountable for acts, and prepares to vote once again to defend themselves against OSGC & OBC, it seems only fair to ask – and to be answered:
