Oneida Nation Of Wisconsin’s Starting Wages For Gaming Employees By Job Title

An example of the Open Source Governance that Oneida Eye advocates:

In the not-so-distant past, the Oneida Nation in Wisconsin’s official newspaper, Kalihwisaks, published the Tribe’s salaries, but it no longer does so, thereby unnecessarily keeping Tribe members and employees in the dark and depriving General Tribal Council of information that is important for the supreme governing body of the Tribe to have access to in order to make informed decisions.

Oneida Eye thinks that Oneida Tribe members and employees have a right to know what all Tribal employees’ starting and current wages are and was provided a copy of the starting wages for gaming employees (which may be somewhat out of date):

The Oneida Business Committee was asked about the information at their bi-monthly OBC Regular Meeting this morning.

They were not happy. (Vampires don’t like sunlight.)

Note that the first page states that whomever will (hopefully soon) replace Gaming General Manager Louise King-Cornelius will make a starting wage of at least $74.03/hour.

(How could Louisasaurus Wrecks possibly be worth even half of that?)

The starting wage for Poker & Table Games Dealers?

$6.07/hour (the lowest wage on the list and the same as what department Interns make).

It’s beyond question that – just like any other government (county, state, federal) – the wages of all of the Oneida Nation in Wisconsin’s elected officals and governmental employees should be made public.

The Human Resources Department behaves as though the rest of Tribal jobs are merely part of a ‘jobs program’ with a race-based preference (and extra points for HRD’s and the OBC’s friends & family), therefore all Tribal wages should be made public so that General Tribal Council can make certain that GTC is dealt a fair hand and getting the biggest & best bang for their buck.

Otherwise, it might be just a bunch of secret scams, shady ripoffs and raw deals.
