Notice Of May 9, 2015 Special Election Caucus

A sign (shown below) has been posted at Oneida Tribally-owned OneStop Oneida Market stating that a Caucus has been scheduled at Norbert Hill Center for May 9, 2015, but the sign doesn’t say what elected position(s) is(are) being caucused.

Notice of 2015-05-09

Why didn’t the Oneida Election Board state on the Public Notice which elected positions are opening up?

Why was the Public Notice posted on the side entrance to the Oneida Market rather than on the front door of the Oneida OneStop where everyone would definitely see it, or in an equally visible & prominent location?

Why wasn’t the notice printed in the April 16, 2015, Kalihwisaks rather than being put off until just 10 days before the Caucus?

Given the Oneida Election Board’s long history of disenfranchising actions against General Tribal Council the most logical answer is that it’s just another attempt by some Tribe members to keep other Tribe members in the dark until the very last minute that the Oneida Election Law requires a Notice to be posted.

(Way to go, again, OEB Chair Racquel ‘Rockhead’ Hill!)

UPDATE: A postcard mailed to Tribe members lists the following Special Election vacancies as well as further requirements for getting on the ballot:
